Government & Public
Public buildings keep public hours. Public crews don't.
8Kava government vending services cover the whole public footprint: city halls and courthouses, libraries and rec centers, dispatch centers and public-works yards, parks and transit stops. Published pricing and clean records make procurement simpler, placement is planned for accessibility, and the same platform keeps a cooler stocked in the 911 center at 2 a.m.

Formats across the public footprint
City halls and courthouses
Snacks and drinks for visitors, jurors and staff, with a 21.5-inch touchscreen and guaranteed vend refunds.
Libraries
After-hours holds pickup by code, QR or app, plus a smart cooler for patrons on long study days.
Dispatch centers and yards
Real food for 24/7 crews where there's no cafeteria, with badge and payroll deduct for staff.
Parks and trailheads
Weatherized, solar-ready cold water and snacks with no power run to the site.
Recreation centers
Hydration and protein after league games, and equipment loaners from lockers.
Transit and public parking
Contactless retail at stations, park-and-rides and public EV chargers.
Accessibility, planned before anything ships
Public facilities answer to everyone. We plan each placement with your ADA coordinator, and our accessibility statement explains our approach.
Placement and reach
We plan placement and planograms so payment points and essential items sit within accessible reach ranges, with clear floor space in front of each unit.
Contactless by default
A tap of a card or phone replaces coins, keypads and small buttons, and the cooler door releases in under a second.
A phone-based alternative
The Kava app lets shoppers check out from their own phone, with their own accessibility settings.
Refunds without a phone call
On Kava Vend V4, guaranteed vend refunds automatically if a product doesn't drop, so nobody has to chase their money.
Published prices, plain terms, short security answers.
Every Kava OS plan and every piece of hardware has a published price, from $19 per device per month for Core to $69 for Autopilot, and from $349 for a Kava Link retrofit. Monthly plans carry no long-term contract and no setup fee. If capital budgets are tight, Vending-as-a-Service turns hardware into a monthly service fee over a 36-month term, with Kava OS Pro and service included.
Security reviews go faster because the answers are short. Recognition runs on the device and no images of faces are stored or sent. Data is hosted in US regions and encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256). Controls are SOC 2-aligned, and payments are built to support PCI DSS scope reduction through P2PE-capable readers from certified processors.
- Written answers to security and accessibility questionnaires.
- Sales data you can export as CSV or Parquet when a records request arrives.
- Quotes from vending@8kava.com, built from the published price sheet.
Working with Randolph-Sheppard and state vendor programs
On federal property, the Randolph-Sheppard Act gives blind vendors licensed by a state licensing agency priority to operate vending facilities, and many states apply similar rules to state buildings. If your site falls under one of these programs, 8Kava isn't there to displace the licensed vendor.
We can work for them instead. A licensed vendor or the state licensing agency can run Kava hardware and Kava OS like any other operator: retrofit the machines already in place for $349 each, add cashless acceptance, and plan restocks with the same forecasts and pick lists. The business stays theirs; the tools get better.
A typical legacy vending contract vs. 8Kava
| Typical legacy contract | 8Kava on Kava OS | |
|---|---|---|
| Pricing | Negotiated privately, hard to compare | Published per device and per unit |
| Sales reporting | A monthly statement | Real time, per device, per item |
| Data ownership | Stays with the vendor | Yours to export via API, CSV or Parquet |
| Payments | Processor bundled in | Bring your own at no markup, or Kava Pay |
| Fresh food | Rare | Held at 33–41 °F with automatic temperature lock |
| Service | Fixed route schedule | Visits planned by demand and alerts |
Numbers your budget and sustainability offices will ask for
Which public building has the longest hours and the worst food?
It's rarely the one with the most visitors. It's the 911 center, the water plant, the fleet garage or the shelter office: sites that run around the clock with a small crew and no cafeteria. If you ranked your facilities by hours staffed instead of by visitors, which would top the list, and what can people there buy to eat?

Government vending FAQ
Can you respond to an RFP or quote under our purchasing rules?
Yes. Send the solicitation or your requirements to vending@8kava.com. We quote from our published price sheet, answer security and accessibility questionnaires in writing, and can structure the deal as a purchase, Vending-as-a-Service or Managed Operations.
Can the agency earn revenue from the program?
It can. Device screens can carry retail media with a revenue share for the location host, and the commercial terms of the agreement set how product revenue is shared. We'll model both for your sites before you decide.
What data do the devices collect about the public?
Recognition runs on the device and identifies products, not people. No images of faces are stored or sent, and shopper analytics are aggregated. Sales records are yours to export at any time.
Can units go in parks without power?
Yes. Kava Outdoor O1 pairs with the SC-800 solar canopy, 800 W of panels with a 5 kWh battery, for sites without grid power. It's built to IP55, with vandal-resistant laminated glass and an anchored base.
What if a vendor program already covers our building?
Then we work with the licensed vendor or the state licensing agency, not around them. Kava OS and Kava Link work for their machines like any other operator's.
