Third shift eats at 2:40 a.m. The breakroom should be ready.

8Kava runs breakroom vending for warehouses, plants and distribution centers as one system. Fresh food is stocked for every shift, PPE is dispensed by badge with per-role limits, and every sandwich and every pair of gloves is reported to the cost center that used it.

A breakroom for a building that never clocks out

Every shift stocked

Forecasts learn demand by shift, not just by day. The restock lands before the shift that needs it, so third shift isn't shopping first shift's leftovers.

One badge for everything

The same badge opens the cooler, pays through payroll deduct and draws PPE within its limits. Workers don't need a bank card or a smartphone.

Cost centers by default

PPE issues post to a cost center automatically, and food subsidies can too. Finance gets a report instead of a reconciliation project.

Built for short breaks

The cooler door releases in under a second after a tap, and the receipt lands within 10 seconds of closing. Nobody spends a break in a line.

Steel buildings, weak signal

Racking and metal roofs block Wi-Fi. Every 8Kava device carries LTE and buffers 72 hours of transactions if the connection drops.

Supervisors back on the floor

At one distribution center, supervisors spent 5 fewer hours a week on supply cabinets once dispensing and reorders ran on their own.

A2PPE dispensing

Gloves stop disappearing when every pair has a badge attached.

An open supply cage runs on trust and guesswork. Someone takes a box of cut-resistant gloves for the week, the next shift finds the shelf empty, and the reorder happens when a supervisor happens to notice. Kava PPE P1 is a hybrid coil and locker cabinet that dispenses gloves, safety glasses, earplugs, respirators, cut sleeves, batteries and small tools against a badge tap.

EHS sets limits per role and per shift. For example, a picker might get two pairs of gloves per shift and a maintenance tech one respirator cartridge per week. Kava OS logs each issue to a cost center, and low stock triggers a reorder through connectors for SAP, Oracle NetSuite or Microsoft Dynamics. The P1 is $9,800 to buy, or $299 a month on VaaS.

  • Per-role and per-shift limits, set by EHS and enforced at the cabinet.
  • Usage reports by role, shift, department and cost center.
  • Low-stock auto-reorder through your ERP or procurement system.

A day in a three-shift breakroom

  1. 5:40 a.m.

    First shift badges in

Coffee, breakfast sandwiches and gloves. The PPE cabinet issues within each role's limits and logs every pair.

  2. 1:50 p.m.

    Shift-change rush

Two shifts overlap at the cooler. Doors release in under a second, so the line moves at the speed of a tap.

  3. 8:30 p.m.

    Restock for the night

The pick list was sized for third shift's habits, so the shelves hold what night crews buy, not what day crews left.

  4. 2:40 a.m.

    Third-shift lunch

Fresh food at the same quality as noon. Payroll deduct covers workers who don't carry a card.

  5. 4:15 a.m.

    Tomorrow gets planned

Low stock on earplugs triggers a reorder, and Kava Agent drafts the next pick list for approval.

Think about itSlot B4

What does a stockout cost when it's gloves?

A missing sandwich costs a sale. A missing box of cut-resistant gloves at 3 a.m. costs a supervisor's walk to the cage, a paused line, or someone working without them. Most sites track PPE spend by the month and PPE stock-outs not at all. Which of your shifts runs out first, and how would you find out?

C1FAQ

Warehouse breakroom vending FAQ

Can PPE be free to workers while food is paid?

Yes. PPE issues are allocated to cost centers with no charge to the worker, while food runs on cards, badge, payroll deduct or an employer subsidy. Both appear in the same Kava OS reports, separated by category.

Can it connect to our ERP?

Kava OS has API connectors for SAP, Oracle NetSuite and Microsoft Dynamics. Low-stock thresholds on the PPE dispenser can create reorders there, and usage data exports as CSV or Parquet. See Integrations & API.

Our breakroom has no Wi-Fi. Is that a problem?

No. Every 8Kava device carries LTE, and Kava Link includes an external antenna kit for machines deep inside a building. If signal drops, devices keep selling and buffer up to 72 hours of transactions.

Do workers need a bank card or a smartphone?

No. The badge they already use at the door can pay through payroll deduct, with connectors for Workday, ADP and UKG. Contactless cards and mobile wallets work too.

How quickly can a site go live?

A smart-cooler program of up to 10 units typically goes live 10 business days after signing. PPE dispensers are scheduled with your EHS team, because role limits and cost centers need to be right before day one.
