Transit, Airports & EV

Retail for people with exactly one charge session to spare.

Drivers at a fast charger, riders on a platform and travelers at a gate share a fixed wait and a phone in hand. 8Kava's EV charging station vending and transit retail is built for that wait: weatherized smart coolers that run on solar where there's no grid, tap-to-pay in about a second, and 72 hours of offline buffering for sites where signal comes and goes.

A1Three kinds of waiting

Three kinds of waiting, one design rule

Every transit site runs on a fixed clock: a charge, a train, a boarding call. The rule is the same at all of them. Nobody should spend that clock waiting to pay.

EV charging plazas

Drivers are parked, idle and close by for most of a session. A Kava Outdoor O1 under an SC-800 solar canopy sells cold drinks and snacks within sight of the stalls, even where the site has no spare power run.

Rail and bus stations

High volume in short bursts at commute peaks. A smart cooler or a Kava Vend V4 serves the rush, and alerts go out if a door is left open or the temperature drifts.

Airports

Travelers want water, a meal and a charging cable at any hour. Coolers and vending at the gates, plus Kava Lockers for order-ahead pickup, fit inside a concession program.

A3Checkout

Short dwell changes the checkout.

A traveler listening for a boarding call won't scroll a menu. On a Kava Cooler they tap, the door releases in under a second, they take what they want and close it; the receipt lands within 10 seconds. There's no scanning, no keypad and no queue behind a slow card.

Where a spiral machine fits better, Kava Vend V4 adds guaranteed vend: a drop sensor confirms the product fell, and if it didn't, the refund happens automatically. That matters on a platform, where nobody has time to call a support number. Shoppers never pay a cashless convenience fee, and you can bring your own processor at no markup.

  • EMV contactless and mobile wallets, so riders and travelers need nothing new.
  • 72 hours of offline buffering covers parking structures, underpasses and thin rural coverage.
  • Fleet Command alerts on door, temperature and connectivity events at remote sites.

Your charger already makes people wait. What do they do with the time?

A driver who plugs in is parked, idle and close by for most of the session. Today they scroll, or walk to whatever happens to be open. The site host who puts cold drinks and a decent snack within sight of the stalls gets that visit every time, without a building, a cashier or, with solar, even a new power run. What is the wait on your site worth if nothing is for sale during it?

Putting a store where there's no building

  1. Survey

    Check sun, signal and ground

We look at sun exposure and shading for the canopy, cellular coverage, the pad and the anchoring point, and we'll tell you plainly if a site is a poor fit for solar.

  2. Prepare

    Confirm the pad

The O1 mounts on an anchored base. The SC-800 canopy stands over it with its 800 W of panels and 5 kWh battery.

  3. Install

    Set up, stock and connect

Our technicians or a vetted field partner install, stock and test the unit. Payments, planogram and alerts are configured in Kava OS before the first sale.

  4. Operate

    Visit only when needed

Forecasting and dynamic routing schedule remote restocks by actual demand, which is how service visits fall 27% across deployments.

C1FAQ

EV and transit vending FAQ

Can a unit really run with no grid power?

Yes, where the sun allows. Kava Outdoor O1 pairs with the SC-800 canopy, 800 W of panels with a 5 kWh battery, for sites without grid power. The site survey checks sun exposure and shading first, and we'll say so if a site needs a power run instead.

What about vandalism at an unstaffed stop?

Kava Outdoor O1 has vandal-resistant laminated glass, an anchored base and an IP55 enclosure. The door stays locked until a payment tap, and Fleet Command alerts you to door and temperature events in real time.

What if the cell signal drops?

Every 8Kava device keeps selling and buffers up to 72 hours of transactions, then syncs when the connection returns. Legacy machines retrofitted with Kava Link get an external antenna kit in the box.

How does this work inside an airport concession program?

Airport retail usually runs through concession agreements and airport-authority approvals. We work alongside the concessionaire or the authority on placement, reporting and service access, and Kava OS produces sales by location for concession reporting.

Do riders need an app?

No. EMV contactless cards and mobile wallets work at the door. The Kava app and QR checkout are there for people who prefer them.
