Deployment & Field Service
Install day should be boring. Breakdowns should be brief.
8Kava handles smart vending installation from loading dock to first sale, then keeps every unit running: a 24/7 NOC, a 4-hour remote response target for critical device-down issues, next-business-day on-site service in served metros, and same day across the Colorado Front Range.

From signature to first sale
- Before install
Survey the path
Door widths, elevator size, outlet and network, checked against the hardware. A C2 is 30 inches wide and a V4 is 39, so we measure every doorway between the dock and the spot.
- Install day
Place, level, connect
An 8Kava technician or a vetted field partner sets the unit in place. Coolers need a standard 115 V outlet and connect over LTE, Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Configuration
Set it up before it sells
Planogram, prices, payment methods, subsidies and alert routing are configured in Kava OS, so the unit sells correctly from the first tap.
- Go-live
First fill and handoff
First stock, test purchases and a short walk-through for the host. A program of up to 10 coolers typically goes live 10 business days after signing.
- Day 14
Learning complete
Kava Agent has observed the unit for 14 days and starts proposing pick lists, price changes and service actions for approval.
Most fixes start before a van leaves the lot.
Every 8Kava device reports its own health to the 24/7 Network Operations Center in Fort Collins: temperature, door events, connectivity, payment status and component health. Problems often show up there before anyone on site notices.
For a critical device-down issue, the target is a remote response within 4 hours, and a remote fix is always tried first: a restart, a configuration change, a reader reset. If it needs hands, a technician is on site the next business day in served metros, and the same day in the Colorado Front Range. Meanwhile, the device keeps buffering transactions for up to 72 hours, so a network outage doesn't lose a sale.
- 4-hour remote response target for critical device-down issues.
- Next-business-day on-site in served metros.
- Same-day on-site in the Colorado Front Range.
- 72-hour offline buffering on every device.
Built so the first visit is the last one
Modular boards
Camera, lock and compute boards are modular. A technician replaces a board in place instead of hauling a cabinet back to a shop.
Spare pools
Spare modules are staged with technicians and field partners in served metros, so the right part rides along on the first trip.
Trained field partners
Outside the Front Range, service comes from vetted field partners trained by 8Kava on our hardware, our tools and our checklists.
Diagnosis before dispatch
The NOC sends the technician out with the device's history and the likely cause, not just an address.
Retrofits at route speed
A Kava Link installs in a median 22 minutes. One operator retrofitted 520 machines in 9 weeks.
Refurbish, not landfill
VaaS hardware comes back at end of term to be refurbished and redeployed, which only works because it was built to be repaired.

Deployments are available across the continental United States. If a site sits outside a served metro, we'll give you the response time for that address before you sign.
The numbers behind the uptime
What does an hour of downtime cost at your site?
Not much at 3 p.m. on a Saturday in an empty office. A lot at 2 a.m. in a hospital where the cooler is the only food on the floor. Service levels should follow the hours of need, not the calendar. Before you compare response times, ask when your units matter most, and whether your service partner knows that.
Every format, one field team
Smart Coolers
Standard 115 V outlet, LTE, Wi-Fi or Ethernet, live in days.
Autonomous Micro-Stores
Modules placed on a level pad and calibrated, typically open in 6 weeks.
Outdoor & Solar
Anchored bases and solar canopies for sites with no grid power.
Predictive Maintenance
Compressor and door-seal alerts that turn breakdowns into scheduled visits.
Installation and service questions
Who installs the hardware?
8Kava technicians in the Colorado Front Range, and vetted, 8Kava-trained field partners elsewhere in the continental United States. Either way, the install follows the same checklist and is verified from the NOC before go-live.
What do we need to have ready?
A clear path from the dock to the spot, a standard 115 V outlet for coolers, and either network access or permission to use LTE. Kava Box sites need power and a level pad. The site survey lists anything else well before install day.
What counts as a critical issue?
A unit that can't sell or can't keep food safe, such as a device that's down or a cooler that has locked itself after a temperature excursion. Critical issues get the 4-hour remote response target; everything else is scheduled into the next visit.
Can our own technicians service 8Kava hardware?
Yes. Modular boards and remote diagnostics are designed for operators who run their own field teams, and 8Kava support is available 24/7 to back them up. The NOC can walk a technician through a board swap step by step.
Where to go next
Give us a dock and an outlet.
Tell us the site and the date you need it live. We'll come back with an install plan and the response times for that address.
