Why 8Kava

A platform you could leave tomorrow is one worth staying on.

Unattended retail is consolidating into closed bundles, where the software, the card readers and the payment processing arrive as one package. 8Kava takes the other path: open data, your choice of processor, your existing machines, and an agent that acts only within your rules.

A2Eight differences

What open looks like in practice

Your data leaves when you do

Export transaction history in CSV or Parquet, or send it to Snowflake, BigQuery or Databricks through connectors.

Processor independence

Keep your merchant account and MDB cashless readers. We add no markup to processing.

Retrofit first

A $349 module makes a legacy machine smart in a median 22 minutes. Revenue per device rises 18% in the first 90 days.

Agents that act

Kava Agent drafts pick lists, re-sequences routes and opens tickets, set per action to Suggest, Approve or Auto.

Two witnesses at checkout

Cameras and ±2 g load cells must agree before a charge. Shrink falls 62% versus honor-system markets.

Freshness intelligence

Expiry-aware markdowns cut fresh-food waste 33%, and coolers lock themselves if they run warm.

Closed-loop retail media

The screen that shows the ad sees the purchase, and hosts share the revenue.

Privacy at the source

Recognition on the device, no facial recognition, no stored images of faces.

A3Why openness pays

Lock-in is a cost. It just never appears on the invoice.

When the software, the readers and the processing come as one package, every renewal is negotiated from a weak position. Leaving means new readers on every machine, a new merchant account, lost transaction history and weeks of planogram rework. Both sides of the table know it.

Openness flips the incentive. If you can export your data, keep your processor and keep your machines, the only reason to stay is that the platform keeps paying for itself. That's the bar we hold Kava OS to.

  • Keep MDB cashless readers you already own.
  • Swap processors without swapping platforms.
  • Connect ERP, HRIS, identity and data-warehouse tools you already use.

B1In their words

We didn't have to rip out a single machine. The fleet just started telling us what it needed.

Owner/Operator, second-generation family vending business520 machines retrofitted with Kava Link in 9 weeks. 140 locations added in the first year without adding a route.
B2Switching without a cliff

How to move a fleet without betting the business

  1. Before day 1

    Pick a pilot route

Choose up to 10 devices that represent the fleet: a strong site, a weak one, something with fresh food.

  2. Day 1

    Retrofit and keep your processor

Kava Link goes behind the bill validator panel, and your existing cashless readers pass through. Nothing about the shopper's tap changes.

  3. Days 1–30

    Run Pro free

Forecasting, pre-kitting, dynamic routing and dynamic pricing on live routes, at no charge for 30 days.

  4. Day 30

    Compare against your own baseline

Visits, stockouts, spoilage and revenue per device, measured against the same route's history.

  5. After day 30

    Expand at your pace

Monthly plans carry no long-term contract. Roll out route by route, or stop.

Think about itSlot B3

If you left your platform tomorrow, what would stay behind?

Make the list: transaction history, planograms, price rules, card readers, the processor relationship, the subsidy programs you configured for each employer. Everything on that list that can't leave with you is a cost you're already paying. You're just paying it in negotiating position instead of dollars.

B4FAQ

Comparison questions

Is 8Kava cheaper than a bundled platform?

We can't speak to anyone else's quote, but ours is public: $19, $39 or $69 per device per month, 15% off annually, no setup fee. Compare all-in costs, including processing markup and reader replacements, over at least three years. Our ROI calculator helps with the arithmetic.

Will Kava OS work with machines from other manufacturers?

Yes, if they're MDB-compliant. Kava OS reads DEX/UCS audit data and works with MDB cashless readers. Kava Link adds real-time telemetry, remote pricing and a temperature probe input to most legacy machines.

How do I get my data out?

Kava OS exports data in CSV or Parquet, and has connectors for Snowflake, BigQuery and Databricks. Autopilot and Enterprise add REST API access and webhooks, including alerts to Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Isn't an AI agent that changes prices risky?

Only if it has no limits. Each Kava Agent action type is set to Suggest, Approve or Auto, and Auto works inside guardrails such as "max ±15%" and "never below cost". Every action is logged, and price changes roll back with one click.
